I have a message sent to me that says failure-da....

it is the first item in my inbox. When I open Outlook this file causes the software to freeze up.

how can i access the inbox without opening outlook so i can delete this message? How can i prevent it from freezing my program again (it happened before when it was not the first document upon opening so i was able to delete it then).

i'm in one of those desparate situations that we computer users are well acquainted with, so i'll be eternally grateful for any help.

Try going to Start > run and typing

outlook /safe

This will open outlook in safe mode and you might be able to delete
the item then.

Good luck

when i type run: outlook/safe my computer tells me there is no such file. I also cannot find my pst files.

Hi,

The command is
outlook /safe (note there is a space between the k and the forwards
slash).

HTH
