Inbox and messages did not import from PST file back up

I am trying to restore my Outlook 2007 file. I saved it as a pst file before
I reformatted my hard drive. When I imported the pst file, everything came
except the Inbox and all of my messages. Shouldn't the Inbox import with the
contacts, tasks etc.?

What do you mean by "saved it as a PST file"? Chances are it already WAS a
PST. Never import a PST, just open it. In Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook
Data File or use the Data Files butotn in Control Panel's Mail applet.

Your Outlook 2007 data file already IS a PST file. Rather than importing it,
simply choose File > Open. However, the contents will depend on what methods
you used to create a backup file. Normally all you should have to do is close
Outlook and copy the PST file.
