inactive icons in system tray remain visible

Icons in system tray are not hidden if inactive. Toolbar
properties box 'clean inactive icons' is checked though.
Neither is the "»" or "«" button visible. Any ideas?

If you right click the taskbar and select properties is there a check in the
box next to "Hide inactive icons"?
If no that's your problem, if yes click the "Customize" button Is the
behavior next to the Current items set to "Always Hide", "Always show", or
"Hide when inactive" ?

The "<<" button is only visible if there are icons hidden in the system
tray. Since your icons aren't hidden the button won't appear.
