Unable to hide System Tray Icons

I'm unable to Hide the Inactive Icons in the System Tray.
The Hide Inactive Icons box is checked when clicking on
Task bar properties. All my icons are there but in a long
string without that little circular arrow button to click
on that would enable seeing the hidden ones. Maybe
something got gliched. Is there something I can tweak to
get it back normal.?
