inaccessible boot device

Can anyone help me? I posted this the other day without a response. Hoping
someone can help me.

I'm running win2k pro on a older compaq presario.
Everything was working fine then got BSOD, saying
inaccessible boot device 0x007B
(0xf281784C,0xC0000034,0x0000,0x0000). Nothing worked after
that. Here's what I've done to try to correct the problem.

Since I don't have a win2k cd I created win2k setup boot
disks. Rebooted with setup disk #1 in a:drive, got error
message saying disk I/O error. Nothing worked, had to
reboot.

Found a win 2000 server cd(is it okay to use this cd vs
the win2k cd) and used it to boot the system up and get
into the setup screen. Selected R for repair, then R again
to start the emergency repair process. Then F for fast
repair, then L to attempt to locate windows 2000. Then get
screen stating setup cannot find a windows 2000
installation and ask for an ERD. I don't have an ERD so
this didn't help. Selected M for manual repair with
similiar results.

Next I rebooted the win2000 server cd and opened the
recovery console. I didn't know what to do so that why I'm
here. Can someone help me out. Can anyone supply me with
instructions on how to recover my HD so I can boot windows
2000?

Thanks for any assistance.

You did actually get a response, and you subsequently
replied to it.

Attempting to repair a failed Win2000 Professional installation
a Win2000 Server CD is probably not a good idea. You really
need the Win2000 Professional CD. If you have proof of purchase
then you can use the details in the link I gave you to obtain a
replacement CD. If you don't have proof of purchase then your
best course of action would be to legalise your situation.
