inaccessible boot device

Someone please help!

After booting up my compaq presario system running
2000pro, received the following message. STOP: 0x0000007B
(0xF281784C,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)Inaccessible
boot device. Then paragraph asking if this is first time
you've seen this stop error message... Second paragraph
asking to check for viruses, remove newly installed
hardware, check HD to make sure its configured properly
and run CKHDSK /F.

I originally had a problem with a virus and had it removed
about a month ago. System was running fine. Reran Norton
emergency repair disk and again found no viruses. I
haven't install any new hardware or software either. Then
went into cmos to check configuration but compaq cmos
utility didn't provide any help. Also, can't run CHKDSK
cause I can't get to HD. Can someone provide me with any
assistance.

Press F8 during the boot phase, then select in this order:
- Last known good configuration
- Safe Mode

Here's the message I received after following your
instructions, Windows 2000 could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\system32
\config\SYSTEM. Next paragraph says I can try to repair by
selecting "r" at the win2000 setup screen while booting
from my win2000 cd.

I would follow the instructions in the above message but I
lost my win2000 cd. Is there someplace I can download the
above file and replace it on my HD?
