I have recently put another computer onto an already existing & working
network. The new computer is able to see one of the computers but not access
it. The print server can't be found at all. All the other computers (2) are
still able to see and access the others without issue, it is only the newly
connected computer that is having difficultly. One of the computers is able
to see and access the new computer but not the other way around.

The new computer has installed an internet gateway as its internet
connection which none of the other computers have.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this computer needs to
access the network and internet for my son to attend school. He has an
addiction therefore we only want him to be able to use one workstation which
will be (when everything is working) controlled by Net Nanny.

Monica,

Please start by providing ipconfig information for the problem computer, and for
two others that have no problems accessing each other.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, make sure that Format - Word Wrap is
NOT checked!, copy and paste entire contents into your next post. Identify
operating system (by name, version, and SP level) with each ipconfig listing.

Monica,

This is a very good start. Thank you.

So far, we see that Benney (like the others) is Node Type Unknown, which is
good. And it's getting an ip address, so should have physical and network
connectivity.

Let's do some analysis, this will tell us what to look at next.

Take the following code (everything inside the "#####"). (Did I get the names
and ip addresses right)?

Highlight then Copy the code (Ctrl-C), precisely as it is keyed, and Paste
(Ctrl-V) into Notepad. Ensure that Format - Word Wrap is not checked.
Save the file as "cdiag.cmd", as type "All Files", into the root folder "C:\".
Run it by Start - Run - "c:\cdiag".
Wait patiently.
When Notepad opens up displaying c:\cdiag.txt, first check Format and ensure
that Word Wrap is NOT checked! Then, copy the entire contents (Ctrl-A Ctrl-C)
and paste (Ctrl-V) into your next post.

Do this from all 3 computers, please, with all powered up and online.

set FullTargets=benney 192.168.0.6 study 192.168.0.4 chloe 192.168.0.7
set PingTargets=127.0.0.1

@echo CDiagnosis %Version% >c:\cdiag.txt
@echo Start diagnosis for %computername% (Targets %FullTargets%) >>c:\cdiag.txt

@echo End diagnosis for %computername% >>c:\cdiag.txt

We have been able to get the computers to talk to one another, it appears the
firewall on the other computers wouldn't let the new one in. We still have
an issue with the print server. The other computers can see and print using
the print server but the new computer doesn't do either. I installed the
actual printer server software on the problem computer hoping it was
something similar to the firewall issue. But no luck.

Any suggestions on this one and I would like to thank Chuck for all the help
he has offered to us.

Monica
