Cant see computer in Network Neighborhood

Hi!

I just installed a new laptop running Win XP (latest relase) in a network of
4 computers. All computers but one, which runs w2k server, runs XP. Problem
is as follows:

1. I can access other computers from the new laptop, and I can see them all
in my neightwork neighborhood.

2. I cant access the new computer from any of the other winXP boxes.
Accessing it from w2kserver works fine though.

I have done this:

a. Checked and installed networking protocols
b. Checked and confirmed the network group is the same
c. Successfully pinged the new computer from all other computers in the
network
d. Hard drive on the new computer has been shared

Any ideas?

it could be computer browser issue. Can you net view \\newxpipaddress from
other XP? If not, what's the system error?

I went thru the tips on the Ctech site:

Resolutions:

1. Make sure server service is running on the remote computer.

2. Enable file and printer sharing.

Number 2 is enabled. However, it seems since I installed win xp sp3 and all
updates the firewall cannot be shut down. I disable it but when I reboot it
first says "on" for like 30 seconds, and then shifts to "not monitored". I
tried to shut off services in the administration menu but it seems it didnt
help. Anyway I suspect this might have something to do with it, though its
still strange my w2kserver can access the new computer anyway?

Point 1 above I dont know how to go about. How can I check this?

Thx!
