Hi,

No, the in-place upgrade, or repair installation, is designed to preserve
user accounts, settings, and data. However, there are no guarantees in life,
so backing up is still a good idea.

Yes, I have already backuped what I need

The reaons why I plan to do in-place upgrade Windows XP
is because my motherborad has burnt
I have changed a new motherboard
I cannot boot into Windows XP even safe mode

is there any alternative to doing in-place upgrade of Windows XP?

Thanks
