In Outlook 2007, I no longer get the "Choose Profile" dialogue box

When I run Outlook 2007 and want to change profiles, I can no longer close
Outlook and restart it -- the "Choose Profile" dialogue does not appear
(instead, it automatically opens the last profile I used).

I need to either log-off windows (Vista) or reboot to once again get the
dialogue box. This problem has just started happening.

I've verified that in my User Settings, I have "Prompt for a profile to be
used" selected.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It is a pain to have to shut down every time
I want to check my other mail.

Close Outlook. Start Task Manager (CTRL-Shift-Esc), select the Processes
tab, and see if there is more "OUTLOOK.EXE" processes. If so, stop them.
You should be able to open Outlook again and have it prompt for the profile.
If you have a PDA cradled, that will affect it as well. See other causes

Thanks, Brian -- that did the trick.

I actually tried that earlier, and the dialogue box still did not appear.

I tried it again after seeing your post -- and same result.

I did it once again, and the third time seemed to do the trick. Now Outlook
seems to correctly shut down (and closes the process correctly).

Switching profiles and always ending up in the same one you opened first?
Here's how to deal with this irritating problem you have probably solved by
rebooting: exit your current profile and WAIT 30-45 seconds before you try
accessing your other profile(s). As simple as that. Forgot to wait and ended
up in the same profile? Don't reboot, just log off and log on again -it's
much quicker. BTW, don't bother checking the Windows Task Manager for this
quirky behaviour.
