In Outlook 2007, folders in the Inbox have a hand icon beneath them

I imported some contacts from an Excel sheet(as described at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295664) and created two distribution
lists using those contacts for a user. The user claims his mailbox was
fine before I did that and now his Inbox is full of folders which have
a hand icon beneath them.

Saw the links http://www.office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/m/289958/
and http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software...-is-shared-however-that-isnt-the-norm-in.aspx

Share permissions for anonymous and User were set to
none. User and anonymous had share permission "folder visible" option
unchecked. No other share permission was there.

User claims no other program/add in was installed.

What could have caused the hand icon to appear? Can importing some
contacts inadvertently lead to this? How can I fix this?
