In normal view, why can't I see a text box?

I would like to accentuate some text so I placed a text box around the
exisiting text. When I view the document in print layout, I see the text
box. When I view the document in Normal view, I do not see the text box.
Why is this?

Text boxes are in the drawing layer, and objects in the drawing layer are
never displayed in Normal view. Some alternatives that *would* be visible in
Normal view are:

* Table cell
* Frame
* Border around the text (if all paragraphs have the same indents)

But note that, in Normal view, even though they are visible, table cells and
frames may not appear in the "correct" location (because Normal view
simplifies the layout of the document).
