In explorer creat new folder

I Windows XP in Explorer, when I create a new folder, the
folder is not automatically selected and ready so rename.
I have to finde the folder, which has the name New folder
and then click on it at rename it.
In old windows the folder was always selected and ready
to give a new name.
Is it something I have to set up in Windows XP.
