In excel 2003, the menu bar and all toolbars disappear

In excel 2003, the menu bar and all toolbars disappear after I've been using
the program for a period of time. It seems the only way to get them back is
to stop and re-start excel.
 
Tools|Customize|Toolbars tab
Select the toolbars to show.

Or View|Toolbars
(to do one at a time)

This'll help if they're just hidden/turned off. I'm not sure what disappear
really means.
