in-cell drop-down arrow button disappeared

i have data validation lists in many cells (a whole column of cells with the
same list) and for some reason, when i select one of these cells, the
drop-down arrow button no longer appears. i don't know how this happened, but
it is very annoying to have to right click and select 'pick from drop down
list' every time instead of clicking the arrow button.

can anyone PLEASE tell me what happened and how to get the arrow button to
show up on these list cells again?

Try sving as xml sheet - this will drop any custom views - then load the xml and resave as spread sheet and the dropdowns may now be working again - it just worked for me whith the same problem.

Saving to other formats may also work but I have not checked.

Thank you! It worked. For the record, another thing that worked is copying
and pasting the entire worksheet into a new blank sheet.
