In backend database tables truncated

In my backend database under Access XP several tables suddenly are truncated
without any error message. One table, for instance, ends up with only 235
records, while there have been about 21.000 records moments before. No
exception message at all. Nobody has right to delete these records.

Does anybody know such a phenomenon?
