You can create a custom tab in the File New dialog by creating a
subfolder of the user templates folder and saving at least one
template in it. To add your templates to those on Word's default
tabs, create a subfolder with the exact same name as the tab
(Letters & Faxes in this case) and put the templates there. They
will be combined with the Word templates on that tab.

Beautiful! The templates have been transferred; but they appear
iun the "general"tab.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can move my letter and fax
templates to the "letters & faxes" tab or do I have to live with
keeping them in the "general tab?"
:
To see the whole path, click on Templates, and then click on
Modify (but don't actually modify it). The default folder is
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates, but yours may be different.

Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.
Unfortunatley, ]the path name is trncated. It begins with C//
.../Application Data.
I have tried drilling down in several diretories but I keep
coming back to the same file I already placed them in ...
Templates/1033
:
Oops... I meant to say Tools | Options | File Locations (not
User Information).

I have tranferred templates created in Word 2002 to my new
computer running word 2003. I located the word 2002 templates
in the path C:/program files/Microsoft office/Templates/1033.
HOwever, when I select "new office document" and choose
"template", I do not see any of these templates avaialble.
Pelase tell me how I can make these templates appear in the
"letters and faxes" tab.
