Importing "stuff" from Outlook Express

Can anyone assist me with importing my contacts and mail
files from OE to Outlook (both are 2000). ?

My trouble started wehn I backed up my .wab and mail file
as I just moved to another laptop. Prior to giving up my
laptop I made a backup of my Outlook Express address book
(.wab). I also exported my mail file as well as copied
the individual e-mail files (.dbx) to another CD.

When I try and load my contacts into OE on my new machine
it will not recognize the the contacts (I mannualy copied
the .wab file into the correct directory per microsoft).

My other problem is that my mail export backup file is
corrupt and I cannot use it but I have the individual
email .dbx files. My plan was to do this first and then
try and figure out how to move everything over to Outlook,

Sorry if this is confusing but ultimately what I want is
to take my address book and e-mails and move them to
Outlook. I think I am screwed.

Thanks In Advance.

As far as the .wab file, right click on the file (after you've copied
it from the CD to your hard disk) and make certain that it is not
marked as 'Read Only'. Putting a file onto a CD automatically selects
that option, so you must change it back before you can use the file.
My other problem is that my mail export backup file is
corrupt and I cannot use it but I have the individual

If the files are corrupted, there's not much that you can do with
them.

You are trying to import the files into Outlook Express on your new
computer and THEN exporting the files from Outlook Express on the new
computer to Outlook on the new computer (again, making certain that
the files are not marked as 'read only'), right? You cannot import the
old Outlook Express files directly into Outlook.
