Importing settings

We want to import a User's settings to Administrator, such ad MS Office2K
shortcut bar and IE Favorites. I expect that for these two examples we
could just copy the folder contents from the User to Administrator in
Documents and Settings, but I thought there might be a neater way via some
tool or process.

In this case the machine was updated from win98 to XP Pro and there is just
one user. We've decided that we didn't need the password security aspect
for this machine, so we ran Control Userpasswords2 and unchecked the
"require password" box. When we rebooted, all the User's settings had
either disappeared or reverted to the XP default for Administrator. We don't
believe that during setup we ever did anything to deprive the User of
Administrator rights. Interestingly, we have another XP Pro machine that
was setup as a new install, where there is no need for the user to logon or
provide a password, even the USERPASSWORDS2 dialog tab shows the "Require
Password" box to be checked.

Any thoughts?

1. Go to Start - Run and type: control userpasswords2 and press enter.

2. On the Users tab, left click your user name then clear the Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then
click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the "user
name and password" for the account you want to be logged on each time
you start your computer.

Note: If you want to logon to one of the other users, hold down shift as
the system boots up.

Okay I've read the F.A.S.T document. What we want to do is to move one
User's settings to the Administrator's settings, (so that both the User and
the Administrator will be the same), on the same machine, not from one
computer to another. Is there a way within FAST to indicate the User of
interest and the Administrator on the same machine? Or, is there a way to
combine the settings for a User with those of an Administrator?

Your response to the second part of my message, seems to say just what we
said to you as regards the Userpasswords2 dialog--what am I missing?

Thanks for your assistance.

So then, is there no way to migrate one user's settings to another user on
the same machine?
