Importing pst on a new m/c receiving "the messaging interface..."

Having exported the inbox, archive, sent mail, and address book off my old PC
I am now trying to import them as PST files on a new m/c

However all I am receivinbg is an error message: "the messaging interface
has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart outlook."--

Well I have and that hasn't worked.
I've tried the Scanpst utility, that too hasn't worked.
As the files are .pst I cannot open them in Excel and then save cooma
seperated..
I'm kind of stumped, searched for help can't find it, so now need to
ask..... can somebody please help?

Don't use the export/import method to backup and restore your pst-file.
Simply work with the original pst-file instead. For instructions see;
