Importing PST into Contacts

Guest

I exported about 50 contact groups from Outlook 2003, each with multiple
contact listings, into a pst file. Now I am trying to import this pst file
into Outlook 2003 on a different PC so that when I look in the contacts group
on the client I will see all 50 groups in contacts and be able to click on To
and select the groups or members in each group.

After the import, I can see the groups have imported, but the are not
visible in the Address book or in the To field when I look for the contacts.
How do I fix this??

Thanks in advance for your help!

As expected. Importing and exporting are never the correct way to transfer
Outlook data. You lose information, DL's among them.
You copy Outlook data; you don't export it. You aren't trying to convert to
some other file format here. That's what exporting is for.

Russ,

How do I go about copying contacts from one PC to another and have them show
up in the PC's address book correctly?

Thanks,
Joseph

Copy the Outlook Data file.
Open it in the other version and copy the Contacts from that Outlook Data
file into your default Contacts Folder.

Russ,

Sorry, but I am trying not to appear dense. Where would I find the Outlook
Data file corresponding to these contacts?

Thanks for your help!!

If you're using a POP account for mail, click File>Data File Management and
Outlook will tell you where it is. You can also right-click the root of the
Personal Folders tree, choose Properties, then click Advanced.

Of course not. You should have said at the outset you were using Exchange.
In this case you must create the PST file yourself (File > New > Outlook
Data File...). Now by definition you will know the name and location of the
PST file because you are creating it! Then copy your Contacts into this
file, close Outlook, and copy it to the other PST and open it in Outlook.
