Importing .pst file back to outlook

I was having problems with my computer so I backed up outlook and created a
..pst file. I ended up having to get a new harddrive and have reloaded all
the programs and what nots. Except when I try to restore the ms outlook
file. I copied it into
document and settings\mycomputer\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook --- however whenever I try to open it up, it returns
the following:

"properties for this information must be defined prior to use"

and I hit ok and it returns

"the file document and settings\mycomputer\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook is not compatible with this version of the personal
folders information service. Contact your administrator."

What gives?

Firstly, move the pst file from that location to another. Secondly, remove
the read-only attribute. Thirdsly, open Outlook and go to File-Open-Outlook
data file and navigate to where you put the file.

Never try to overwrite the default outlook.pst file. You must open the backup
pst in Outlook by using File, Open command on the menu.
