importing..no video, just audio

I am having trouble importing wmv and avi video from my computer. I can get
the audio, but the clips are all black screen. Any help is appreciated.
Using WM2

Do the files play OK in the Windows Media Player before importing into MM2?

Is the problem the same if you preview them in the collection and in a
project?
