Importing music

The Movie Maker will not import music from my Microsoft
Media Player 9 program. The music does not show up as
existing at all in the My Music file even though it has
been copied into the Media Player. Also, if I try to
import the CD directly into the Movie Maker from the CD-
Audio drive, it does not recognize the CD at all. The
only music it recognizes is the Sample Music which came
with the computer.

Open Windows Media Player, from the Toolbar select Tools, Options... in the
Copy Music tab, where are you copying your music to? (ie into which folder)
and in which format (wma or mp3).

Hello there,

You cannot rip music from a music CD using Movie Maker.

One method of achieving your aims is to use Media Player or Music Match to
copy the music to a location of your choice. The format to use would be the
one that compress's the music as little as possible for two reasons. 1) You
remove an expansion and possible re-compression stage that Movie Maker
would otherwise have to do 2) You will add no artifacts to the music that
because of the above may occur. The format to use in the ideal world is
therefore WAV. You should take careful note of where you are saving these
files too.

Once you have completed the above all you need do is import the audio into
movie maker. The catch here is, the music or video is not imported into
movie maker at all. The files do not in any way move. What occurs is a file
is created (private to movie maker) that contains information on where the
files are and of course what they are.

Hope this helps a little. If not do please feel free to ask again....

While you are in one of those tabs... make sure it isn't set to "protect"
your music, or even if you find the files, they won't import.

Just do a "save as" in Media Player, e.g.,

Track 01.wav

As mentioned it's a good idea to have a separate folder
to keep track of such files, e.g., My Audio\WAV Files
