Importing mpg files

Help! I'm trying to import a short (2:11 min) mpg clip into MM in order to
convert it to wmp so to insert into a powerpoint presentation. However, I
get the following error message:

C:\PPt\That's Chaos.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many
methods to fire events from (That's all...the message is cut off after that)

What does this mean and how can I fix it?

That means it is an MPEG2 file which isn't compatible.
