can't import -- "too many methods"

Hi -- I'm new to movie maker. I'm trying to import my .mpg video. I've tried
to import both directly from my camera and harddrive. Each time I get the
error message:

..MPG could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events
from

it doesn't even seem to finish the error message. I've tried the online help
and faqs. Can't find anything about this error message.

Please help!
