I cannot import messages using the import function. I get
a "No messages can be found in this folder or another
application is running..." message.

Anyone got any solutions? The .dbx files are there and
are not read only

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, CGHM asked:

Where in the original post does the mention of Outlook occur? All that is
mentioned is importing .dbx files, which are used by Outlook Express, not
Outlook.

If the OP was importing into Outlook, s/he should have said so. We are not
mindreaders, as much as the missing information that we have to guess might
infer.

To the OP, if you are trying to get your mail into Outlook, not Express,
please post the version of Outlook and Express. If you are trying to import
into a later version of Outlook Express, try an Express group.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, BSM asked:

| I can't see this is a very useful answer. When upgrading from Outlook
| Express to Microsoft Outlook one of the most obvious things you're
| gonna want to do is import your old email. That this doesn't appear
| to be possible or is, at least, a total pig to find out about is, to
| my mind, a major oversight.
|
| Anyone can help - much appreciated.
