Importing from Excel

I have an excel spreadsheet (2003) that I am importing into Access 2003. I
have 3 different columns for telephone (Day, Night, Cell) which were
formatted in excel as the special character for telephone#. I should mention
the these columns are consecutive on the spreadsheet (column g,h & i for
example).

When the import is complete, I check the access table and find that only 1
of the 3 fields has a data type as number. The other 2 fileds are formatted
as text. I have changed the format in Excel for all 3 fields to general &
number then re-imported with the same result. I have tried changing that data
type to number in access. But when I do that access wants to delete all the
information for that column.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Steve,

The joys of bringing in data from excel to Access. Try formatting the excel
fields as text. Then on import they will all import as text,,, then if you
want you can put a submask on the fields to display them any way you like. I
have yound that if I bring in Excel data as text it works best. I have on
occation exported to a txt file and imported the data from the txt file into
access with ease. Let me know if this works for you.
