Importing from CSV corrupts the pst

As lone as I simply type data into Outlook, my synch software (Pocket
Mirror ... I gave up on ActiveSync) synchronizes just fine. But when I
try to import from a csv file, Outlook throws an error message and
phones home. Thereafter, the synch software can not use the pst. data
file (and the imported data never makes an appearance).

The sequence of events is:
File / Import Export / Import From another program or file / Comma
separated values (DOS -or- Windows) / browse to the desired file / set
up field associations and click to import.

What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Outlook version?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Importers and Exporters?
ave you tried Help>Detect and Repair?
