Importing date problems in CSV

Using 20000 I have a CSV file that has a field with the following format:

10/3/2007 12:00:00 AM

When I try to import the data (File/Get Data/Import) and let Access assign
the type Date/Time to the field - I get Type Conversion Failure errors and
none of the field values are imported.

If I try agaon and set that fields type to Text and import the data - it
works fine. Then I go right to Table Design, change that field type to
Date/Time and press the save button - it saves without a problem.

So - why does the import say it's NOT a valid date/time format and yet the
table design says it is??

Perhaps Access is "reading" the "number" and treating it as a numeric data
type. During your import operation, can you specify the data type for that
particular field?
