Importing Contacts from Russian Outlook 2003 into English Outlook

I have a Russian user who has just been given a new laptop with the English
version of Outlook XP. She's trying to import her contacts from her previous
PC; which has a Russian version of Outlook 2003.

I have imported these contactsd using the following and they HAVEN'T WORKED:
1. Exported the contacts from Outlook 2003 as a CSV file
2. Exported the contacts from Outlook 2003 as a TSV
3. Exported the contacts from Outlook 2003 as a PST version 97-2002 format
NONE OF THESE HAS WORKED!!!
Does anyone know what else I can do? It's nearly driving me NUTS!!!

Have you tried, in OL2003, creating a new pst in 97 - 2002 format, copying
Contacts to that, then closeing that new data file, and OL.
Copy that data file to eg Documents on the other PC, then within OLxp
opening that data file to copy stuff to the default data file?

PS New laptop is not a Vista PC is it, if so there are problems with OLxp on
Vista

Thanks DL for responding. I did that as part of my third scenario and it
didn't work either.

The laptop isn't a Vista but an XP Pro SP2

Cheers.

I guess then its something to do with language.
Another option, export to excel, then in the OLxp PC, export contacts to
excel
Check both data mappings to compare the two

Thanks again. When you say excel, I'm sure you are talking about CSV, which I
did in scenario 1. I'm sure it's something to do with language encoding etc

Please help...

Here's your first scenario:
1. Exported the contacts from Outlook 2003 as a CSV file

Where does it say you created a new 97-2002 format PST and copyied the data
from the existing PST to that new one?

No I did mean Export to a File> Excel

Can you clarify what you mean by "NONE OF THESE HAS WORKED"?

If the contact data are in Russian, then they may not show as Russian in
Outlook 2002; you'll need at least OL 2003 and run it in Unicode Mode.
