Importing Contacts from Excel

B

Bob in Colorado

I have 500 names and email addresses in an Excel spreadsheet. Any way I can
import these into Outlook 2007 without having to re-type everyone? Thanks

From Outlook File Menu --> Import/Export ....... the file you import will
depend on which of the two options below you follow

Option 1

#1 - Make sure that you have the correct <named range> specified with Excel
for all the contacts you want to import including the header row (column
names)
#2 - If your workbook is in Excel '2007 format (file name ends with .xlsx) -
must be saved as an .xls fle (Excel 97-2003 format) in order for it to be
usable by the Outlook import wizard

Option 2

Ignore option 1 items. Just save your worksheet as a CSV file and import
that into Outlook.

Regardless of which approach you follow - strongly recommend manually
mapping the fields being imported (click on the <Map Custom Fields> button
when it appears in the process)
