Importing Contacts & Calendar from Basic to Enterprise

My company switched to Outlook Enterprise from Basic. Enterprise will not
import .pst files, why? I want to import my contacts and calendar I exported
in .pst format. Can I?
 
These Outlook versions do not differ.
Exporting and importing are never the correct way to transfer Outlook data.
Just open the PST file from which you need data.
