Importing AVI files

I'm having trouble importing an AVI file. The size is 18
Mb which I don't think is the problem. The file plays in
Windows media player so I don't think the file is bad. Is
it possible there is a feature I have to turn on/off to
enable me to import this file. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

You may not have the needed codec installed for Windows. See
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm .
In section 3 it tells you how to test your video in mplayer.exe or
mplay32.exe to see if it *should* play in PowerPoint.
