I tried the freeware "MyIE2" web browser and was disappointed and
uninstalled via XP's add/remove programs. Now when I try and start MS IE6 I
get a dialog box that comes up and says "Please Sect Language". English is
the only language listed when I chose it the box goes away and nothing
happens. I can get IE6 to start (without the dialog box) but choosing run
from the start menu, navigating to the IEXPLORE.EXE file and run it. That
is the ONLY way I can get IE6 to run. If I create a desktop shortcut and
click on it I get the same select language dialog box with the same result.
HELP PLEASE! I want to avoid a reinstall at all costs if possible.

Bob,

1st option, perform a System Restore rollback (if you've installed/uninstalled MyIE2 as of recent)
2nd: Apply this fix: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

If not, can you send me the screenshot of the language screen? and where does the shortcut point to? (iexplore.exe right?)

Bob,
Well. I could repro the problem in my system.

Scenario:
Able to launch iexplore.exe / shortcuts. But not the .URL files or .html files. The language selction screen is not that of IE's but it's MYIE's opening screen. There is a setting in MYIE2 to restore the old browser (as the default one)

See here for workarounds/resolution: (Last tip)
