The problem is in Fp2k3. Whenever I view the document (which is a page in
the entire web) it does not show or load the pictures (that includes nav
bars + themes)
I notice this problem only in the design view but if I preview the page in a
web browser everything show up.

When I first create pages it all show fine, but once I close that page and
reopen I have the same problem.Cannot post a link since that would not show
my problem.\

Solution tried : 1) checked to see it I was using the image already imported
in my web
2) check to see if the files were being link correctly etc..

no broken links the picture just don't show in design view
TIA

Still don't understand load
- do you see place holder for the images
What do you see in Code View
Did you apply any absolute positioning or layers

No positioning applyed and yes the place holder are what is currently show
in the design view.
In code view it show the path correctly for the images its just that in
DESIGN view it does not show the actual photo. (but it does show the image
placeholder)

""!!<html>

<img src="bla blag" /> <-- coding is just a example please don't pay syntax
any mind
</body>
</html>

See it is jest a simple html page with the img source tag included but the
actual image is not showing in the document when I am building in DESIGN
VIEW.

When I first make the page an put a image on the page, it see this image.
however when I close the page (for whatever reason) and reopen it the image
is gone but the placeholder is still there.
When I go to preview or preview in a browser I see the image (no problem)
the problem is in design view where I can see the placeholder but not the
image

the code above is just to show that it is a simple web page nothing fance

The reason for asking for a snippet was to see if the syntax and image type was correct
- w/ real snippet can't help you as both:
""!!<html>
and
<img src="bla blag" />
are invalid html

PS an image tag must be inside of a block level tag (<p> or <table>)

here is the code snippet you requested:

<p ALIGN="center" style="margin-left: 5%; margin-right: 5%">
<img border="0" src="images/batt_lab01.jpg"
xthumbnail-orig-image="images/batt_lab01.jpg" alt="Small Lab" width="450"

This is included in the html file and works fine in the preview mode/browser
view
but as I said it does not show up in design view ...

Also is there a way to load a page FIRST before index.html

this is the setup
(redisigning currently - ugly site)
http://www.electricauto.com

I redesigned the site and in my zeel I did the structure link with a index
already made.
so all the page are using this index as the home link, but as the link to
the site show I need to load that page with the pictures first

a- how can this be done, do I have to instruct my host to link my default
page to something else
b- If I redid the index with a behavior to act upon load would that work
(eg. place a image then say on load redirect to xxxx.html) ???

lost and weary please help. TIA

FP2003 adds xthumbnail-orig-image attributes if you have auto thumb nailed the images
If you autothumbnailed, did you save the embedded images and is the path showing correct
If the image is no longer being used as a thumbnail remove the attribute

You are attempting to use what is called a splash page before your real home page,
- which you don't want as your home page in your navigation structure
Your server (and FP) can only have 1 home page per web / subweb

You either need to:

Remove the splash page (index.htm) and make
http://www.electricauto.com/home.html your home page
(rename it to index.htm and redo you nav view for other pages to be under it)

Or, if your host supports subwebs (many don't), you need to create a subweb for you content:
- Create a folder - say "content" and right click it to convert to web
- Then do a File Publish All and Publish your entire local web site to the new subweb
(select File Publish Site and the File System option, then enter the "rootwebpath/content/" as the destination or browse to the new
subweb folder (content)
- In your root web home page (index.htm) change your link from home.htm to index.htm in the subweb folder (content), and delete
everything except the index .htm (and it's images)
- Double click the subweb "content" to open it in FP
- Open both home.htm and index.htm, and copy the appropriate content you want on your new home page (from the home.htm to the
index.htm page - replacing original content on index.htm)
- make any changes needed to your nav view

To publish your subweb
Either
Open your local root web and select Remote Web Site
- and in Remote Web Site Properties - Publishing, select Include Subwebs
Or
Open your local subweb (content) and select Remote Web Site and enter http://www.electricauto.com/content/ as the destination

PS
IMHO your old home.htm is at least 3-4 separate pages that need to be broken up

| Also is there a way to load a page FIRST before index.html
|
| this is the setup
| (redisigning currently - ugly site)
|
| I redesigned the site and in my zeel I did the structure link with a index
| already made.
| so all the page are using this index as the home link, but as the link to
| the site show I need to load that page with the pictures first
|
| a- how can this be done, do I have to instruct my host to link my default
| page to something else
| b- If I redid the index with a behavior to act upon load would that work
| (eg. place a image then say on load redirect to xxxx.html) ???
|
| lost and weary please help. TIA

thanks stefan:

you get the point

AGAIN THANKS A BUNCH!!!

FP2003 adds xthumbnail-orig-image attributes if you have auto thumb nailed the images
If you autothumbnailed, did you save the embedded images and is the path showing correct
If the image is no longer being used as a thumbnail remove the attribute

I have some info to report

I have tried this multi-level subweb nesting like you suggested
Result: the original problem I was having is happening all over the site.
I'm still able to see the picture when ever I view them in a browser but
inside FP2k3 all I see is the placeholders.

Yes I have recalculated all the links and have tested them but that not at
fault here, I have made sure I have the link structure/path correct but
FP2k3 even does this with the Nav-bar...

Still it no biggie for me but I just think that it a glitch in fp2k3 or a
glitch in my installation method...
P>S> it acts as if the program is running out of system's resources (but my
setup is high: P4, 512 MB, XP-Pro., etc)

TIA, Please Advise it any fix

Yes FP2000+ supports nested subwebs (FP98 does not)

| thanks stefan:
| I know the first home page needs to be broken down (which is what I have
| done in the newer version of the web)
|
| As far as the instruction you gave, I'm following as such:
| Create a subweb -> publish current files to said subweb ->
| in the main root web leave the current index.htm (which is the pictures) ->
| next in the subweb convert the home.html to index.htm -->
| next have the root web redirect to the subweb
|
| Question is it ok to have subwebs within subweb sorta like a nested tree
| 1
| 1b
| 1c
| 2
| 2b ...
| you get the point
|
| AGAIN THANKS A BUNCH!!!
|
| HAVE A GELLING CHRISTMAS AND A HIGH NEW YEAR

Just as I thought it had to be some display graphic card

Nothing has changed in your published web

W/ respect to the images not visible in design mode check your graphics card driver

|
|
|
|
