Import *.reg file

Adi

Hi, experts!
When I wish to import reg file with double click in registry, its open only.
How to repair this, that will put file to Registry with message of
successfuly registering.
Thanks for any advice!

Merge works like double click, its open text file and nothing more.

What extension does the file have? It sounds like it doesn't have the proper
extension which is .reg. If it isn't a .reg it won't merge and will only open
as a text file. If it isn't the proper extension simply change the extension to
..reg. Example: If it is file.txt change it to file.reg and it should work.

Open Control Panel, Folder Options, click REG, Advanced, Merge, Edit.
It should read:

Action:
Mer&ge

Application used to perform action:
regedit.exe "%1"

Use DDE

Application:
regedit

Your advice was Helpfull, but thanks all others too.
After download xp_regfile I extract it and run like:
RUN: Regedit "c:\ xp_regfile.reg" are magic words in STARTUP option.
After that all *.reg files work on old correct way, with double click or
Merge.
