Import Outlook Express into Outlook 2003

I've just installed Outlook 2003 (and performed the auto-update as of
today).

I'm having a problem importing my mail from Outlook Express.

I have a *copy* of the Outlook Express folder on my desktop. The problem
is, when I go through the import process (File / Import / Import
Mail...Select Folder) I get an error message box saying that the folder
could not be accessed.

What can I do here? There are no other applications accessing the folder.
I've restarted the PC to make absolutely sure of that. It's just a folder
sitting on the desktop.

Any ideas anyone - they'd be hugely apprecated!!!

First you'll need to import all of your Outlook Express data into Outlook
Express (if I understand your question correctly, the data is just in a
folder currently and not actively part of OE). If you need help with that
step, go to http://www.insideOE.com for complete instructions on backup and
restoration of OE data.

Once you have the OE data established in OE, use File | Export in OE or File
| Import and Export in Outlook to get the data into Outlook.

As Jocelyn said, first import your messages into Outlook Express. Then, use
Outlook Express' File > Export Messages command to export your mail into
Outlook. Trying to use Outlook to import your messages will result in the
loss of dates on your messages.

Ahh - I see now. I've just tested that successfully so now I'll have
another crack making sure everything is nicely synced.

Many thanks.
