Import Outlook Ex from Old PC to Outlook 2002 New PC

I want to import my old email from Outlook Express on my
old pc onto my new Pc. Both are hooked up to a network.
When I try to use the import wizard and select internet
mail and Outlook Express 4.x, 5 then supply the directory
where the files are old pc's C:\windows\application
data\identities\<guid>\microsoft\outlook express, I get:

mail folder could not be opened, if another application
is using this file, please close it and try again.

It never asks me for an identity. There are 3 identities
on the old PC OE.

The old PC OE won't export. It says that it can't
intialize mapi.

I also have tried making a copy of the store folders from
old pc's OE and importing the dbx files, ie. Inbox.dbx.
This does not work either.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Fixed my own problem.

1. created backup using store folder in old pc OE
Tools,Options,Maintenance
2. created dummy account in OE6 on new pc
3. imported messages to new pc OE6 over the network from
store folder on old pc
4. imported messages from OE6 new pc to OE2002 new pc.

cumbersome, but it finally worked.

That's the only way to do it.
