import Outlook 2000 messages to OE 6 under Virtual PC 7.2

I'd like to transfer Outlook 2000 messages from a Windows 98 PC to Mac OS
X, using Virtual PC 7.2, running Windows XP Pro.

I've moved the outlook.pst file to the Mac, but can't get Outlook Express to
even look for the file. From the Outlook Express app, I select "Import from
Outlook", but get an error message (can't import MAPI client).

How do I get OE to even consider importing an Outlook .pst file? Where
should I put the file so that it can locate it? (Should I create a path
c:\windows\Local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook? Can I even do
that with a virtual machine?)

Thanks!

You can't. Outlook has to be installed on the Virtual PC as OE cannot read
from a pst-file directly; it does this through Outlook. Another way to go
would be to import on OE on the Win98 PC and than transfer the dbx-files
form OE.

Thanks! I'm 99% of the way there, need a bit more help.

I was able to import from OE on Win98 and then copy .dbx files to the
Virtual PC. Problem is, I can't find where to put the .dbx files; putting
them in the Outlook Express folder in Program Files/Microsoft/Outlook Express
didn't work, that is, OE didn't read them. Where do they belong?

TIA.

Put them in any folder you like (I recommend a folder called something like
My Documents\Outlook Express Mail) and point OE to look in that folder'
