Need to import about 100 user accounts from an NT4.0 domain into a brand new
W2k AD domain. Can this be done?
Thanks in advance...

If this is domain envirment then you can use ADMT (Active directory
Migration tool) to migrate users. You can find it on MS website.

Jason,

Matjaz gave you the perfect answer. I would definitely explore ADMT ( and
make sure that you are using ADMT v2 - if you need I can e-mail you the
executable if you can not - for whatever reason - get the download ) as this
is the best way. This does, however, require that the Destination Domain
( read: WIN2000 ) be in Native Mode. There should not be any problems with
this requirement. But....It also, naturally, requires that there be a trust
between the WINNT 4.0 Domain and the WIN2000 Domain. I would really suggest
that you look into using netdom - a nice utility that is part of the Support
Tools - to create this trust!

However, you could also explore using either ldifde ( a .ldf file ) or csvde
( a .csv file that you could get from an Excel spreadsheet ) or addusers to
do this. This would only be a consideration if the requirements for ADMT v2
are not gonna work for you. But I would like to think that ADMT v2 would
not present any problems for you...

HTH,

Cary
