Import from Outlook

Doug Chatham

I have attempted to import email from Microsoft Outlook, but I get the
following error message:

"Message cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occurred."

I have Outlook on my laptop with some messages I would like to import into
Windows Mail. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Doug,

Did you ever get an answer to this? I am having the same problem and have
spent a day trying to get my outlook messages from my old laptop to my new
vista laptop.
Thanks,

Thanks,

You have two choices: 1. Install Microsoft Outlook under Vista where it is
also known as the MAPI client. Then Windows Mail will use it when you
import the .pst file. Versions 2003 and more recent run under Vista;
version
2002 runs but with a few problems. Outlook Express won't run under Vista.
There may be an additional step that I don't remember. A trial version will
run more than long enough to do the import. 2. Import the .pst file into
Outlook Express under a copy of XP that has Outlook installed. Then
import from Outlook Express on the older computer to Windows Mail on
your newer computer:
