Import/export address book

Just loaded Office 2000 on XP.
Setting up Outlook and want to import address book from a disk.
From the Address Book I cannot access either import or export in the File
menu.
Both commands are dimmed.
Ideas?
Thanks

Open Outlook, go to contacts folder, and select File | Import and Export.
Wizard should be pretty straight forward.

you can copy the material from the disk, to your hard drive, the open
outlook, and run the import wizard, and accees from the hard drive.

I have almost same problem except EXPORT/IMPORT isn't even there let alone
dimmed. I applied Outlook 2000 SR-1 and Office 2000 SP-3. My outlook shows
9.0.0.6627. On my old computer I have same version and EXPORT/IMPORT is
there. Maybe this will help someone come up with the solution for both of us.

I have similar problem except EXPORT/IMPORT does not show at all. I have
applied Outlook 2000 SR-1 and Office 2000 SP-3 and a half dozen other
security updates. Microsoft says I am up to date. I am at 9.0.0.6627 which
is what I am at on my old computer and I have EXPORT/IMPORT available on the
File menu on that system. Hope this helps someone help us both.

You can try renaming the file named outcmd.dat to outcmd.original when
Outlook is closed. Please note that this action will cause all menu/toolbar
customizations to be lost.
