How is a quicktime movie placed into a ppt slide so that it comes up with the
slide automtically without having to click a link? Is there a way to put the
movie in without a link and have it run continously? The presentation will be
running continously and I want to movie to play when the slide it is in comes
up.

Just note that you can't embed a movie - you can only link it. Also, what
version of PowerPoint are you using? A Quicktime movie may not work for you
if you are using PPT 2000 or older.

Thank you for your response. I have ppt 2003. I do have it linked. The movie
does come up when clicked. Is there a way to have the link open and play the
movie automatically? I have the presentation running continously as I will
need to talk with people during the presentation.

In custom animation can you see the media clip probably an "on click" and a
triggered instance (to pause). Can you change "on click" to "with previous"

I hyperlinked it through the tool bar.

There are dozens of them in PowerPoint. Each has lots of buttons on it.

We have no way of knowing which you clicked unless you tell us and no way of
helping you solve your problem unless we know.

Please describe *exactly* what you did, in the order you did it.

For example:

What I did:

I selected a rectangle shape
From the main menu bar, I chose Insert, Hyperlink
The Hyperlink dialog box appeared
I typed "http://www.blahblah.com/boohoo.html" into the URL text box
I clicked OK

What happens:

When I start a slide show in Kiosk mode and click the link described above, the
mouse starts running around in circles, the cat goes crazy chasing it, runs
across the keyboard and steps on the ESC key, ending the show prematurely.

I inserted the hyperlink into the text box on a slide. When I clicked on the
"insert a hyperlink" a window appeard to browse the files. I selected the
file where the movie is and clicked okay to insert it. Is that more helpful?

In the slide where I wanted the movie to appear I was in the "textbox". I
selected "ihyperlink". Then I went to the file where the moive is saved and
double clicked it to insert it into the text box.

That's for the slide itself. I have the hyperlink in the textbox of the
slide. Is it possible to command the hyperlink to automatically play the
movie after the slide has come on?

I tried to do that with the link but it doesn't change that it has to be
clicked in order for the clip to play.

So, lets do it a bit differntly.

Delete the hyperlink from the slide.

Go to Insert and then select Object.

Now check, "Create from File"

Navigate to the file, select it, and OK your way out.

Right click the object and then select custom animation.

Click add

At the bottom you should now see an option for "Activate Contents". Select
it.

You should be good to go and the video will play when you run the slide show
and this slide opens.

The movie clip is behind a hyperlink. It was the only way I have found to
place the movie into the slide. I hope this information helps you to know how
I had to place the movie into the slide.

Thank you Austin. This was very helpful. I have four slides with a movie. The
previous movie appears on the next slide and has to be clicked out of once
that slide opens. Is there a way to alleviate this? Again thank you.
