Hey Guys

I saw that Oneandone email packages now have support for the IMAP protocol, and read that this is MILES better than POP3...

I dragged all my email folders and emails over to the new IMAP version of my account (i now have two accounts in my outlook, 1 Pop one IMAP) and it took forever.... but its there now.

Why exactly is it better, and why does a send/revieve take so long to run - maybe 10 seconds as opposed to 0.5 for a POP3 S/r...

Anyone know?

Tha advantages are in a "multi-user" PC ... mail stays on the server unless you say otherwise ... is better for users who need to access their email from many locations ... The main advantage of IMAP over POP is that you can access all of your old and new e-mail from anywhere using any e-mail application that supports IMAP, including WebMail.

A bit Like Google Mail. ;)

One warning is that you need to keep an eye on your e-mail storage space, some companies only give 10MB... others 100MB etc...

I've got 2GB of e-mails on my PC somehow  Lots of medium sized documents and images seem to bump it up hugely.

i get a gig... but the server seems to be so slow - a send recieve takes forever!
