IMAP-Outlook locksup

Outlook 2003 11.6359.6408 SP1
I just started using IMAP yesterday and at least once a day, normally more,
Outlook will lockup when checking for new messages.
I have about 10,000 messages in the inbox but that shouldn't matter.
I have to end task from task manager to stop it and restart Outlook.

any help?

How large is the IMAP cache PST?
 
Thanks for the reply but I went back to pop3, I use Winproxy to scan for
viruses and it won't scan IMAP email and way too many crashes.
