I installed Outlook 2007 about two months ago. I went thru the laborious
process of setting up my IMAP mail account and configuring each folder.
Today, Outlook has stopped working. It just prompts me for a username and
password to connect to my mail server.
I have checked:
1) account password correct
2) caps lock off
3) mail working from another mail client (Thunderbird)
4) mail server DNS name resolves correctly
After this, I deleted and re-added the account.
I did a network trace, and Outlook is sending:
LOGIN "michael" ""
According to the IMAP4rev1 standard, the first string argument is the
username and the second string argument is the password
(http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3501), but irrespective of what I type, it's
sending an empty string for the password.
Looks like a bug to me.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
