Images flicker

Powerpoint version now in use: Powerpoint 2000

Windows version: 98,2000

Description of problem:

When I insert a animated gif ontop of another animated gif
it seems to flicker when I preview the presentation.
To explain in further detail: I have a section on my
presentation which is to display images. I wish to have
moving gifs on top of each other showing at different
intervals. The problem is when one gif is showing it seems
to be flickering. I have tested this problem on my
Powerpoint XP (I use pp2000 at work) and the images don't
flicker. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this
problem. Since I am presenting this on different computers
every week and will probably use the pack and go method I
can't just patch this Powerpoint if it is just a bug. :(

My thoughts are that this is a system resource/hardware issue. The system
will have difficulties with overlapping two GIF files and keeping both
refreshed. Do you have transparency settings in either GIF?

You may want to consider making a combo GIF of the two, or a AVI of the two
gifs acting together. Another option would be to get a laptop (with
PowerPoint 2002) for use on the road.

Robert,

I'd have to say the this is normal behaviour.

Your computer is trying to display an image from one animated gif, then
trying to show another image from another animated gif...so naturally it
will *cover* the previous image. Then it repeats. This is what is causing
the "flickering".

Perhaps on the XP version...the flickering is to fast to notice...or some
other reason I don't know!
