Inserting a .gif ?

I have received PowerPoint where the graphics (gif's) animate. When I try to insert an animated gif when I do a presentation it isn't supported.

How come the ones I receive a animated - is there anyone who can tell me how I can animate or get a gif into my presentation?

Hi,

Normally Insert| Picture| From file. Then it should run in slideshow mode.
What version of PowerPoint are you using. Does the file not animate in
slideshow mode?

I realise now I have to update my version of PowerPoint.
