imaged drive won't boot

Hi all I have a dell with duel os and windows boot select.
I used drive image xl disk to disk raw mode from d drive to copy c drive
which is xp.
The copy will not boot when I put it in the machine in the master
position.
If I switch the jumper and put the copyed disk in as a slave it boots ok
and runs ok.
The boot ini. file is in the copy and looks to be the same as the old
one and seems to be in the same location.
As close as I can tell all files are the same and the same size.
I know a dell don't want to boot if you change the lighting in the room
but I sure hope someone can help me with this.

Sorry, can't tell unless you report exactly how far the boot process goes
and what error message(s) you see. It would also be a good idea to check the
FAQs on the DriveImage home page.

For sure the first partition on the new drive is set to Active?

This always happens when the boot partition is not marked as active, as Mark
already said. All you get is a flashing cursor in the top left-hand corner.

I had this problem, I was told to go to BIOS and select the boot drive.
My problem is I have tried all the short cuts to get in to the AMI BIOS
and all fails. Is there any other way to get in to the BIOS.

Yes - read the manual that came with your PC. There is a section in there
that tells you what button to press. Note, however, that you cannot use the
BIOS setup program to mark a partition as active. One way to do it is to
boot the machine with a Win98 boot diskette (www.bootdisk.com), then to run
fdisk.exe and follow the menu.
